Hilversum, a little town south of Amsterdam, is a Dutch ‘Mecca’ when it comes to the media, thanks to the head offices of many television stations situated there. No wonder that the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, where as much as 70% of television and radio broadcast material is archived, has been built there. With an archive with 700,000 hours of radio and television recordings, this is one of the biggest institutions of its kind in Europe, open to the public like radio and television.
