The pedestrian bridge is a part of the larger project of a comprehensive redesign of the space surrounding the main railway station in Osijek, on Lavoslav Ružička Square. The project includes the redesign of the square itself as a pedestrian space, the construction of offices/garages on the eastern side of the square (partly in the area of the old bus terminal that will soon move to a new location), the demolition of the old steel truss pedestrian bridge over the railway tracks and the construction of a new one.
