Do not build picturesque. Leave that effect to the rocks, mountains and sun, wrote Adolf Loos in 1913. It is obvious that only a small number of investors have even read his Rules for Those Building in the Mountains during last hundred years, let alone followed its rules. The prevailing building style in the Austrian Alps has been long represented by a small house with sloped roof and small windows: white facade, wooden panelling and wooden balcony.
