The awards given and international attention paid to architecture in Graz since the 1980’s have mainly been related to residential and university buildings. While the experimental character and expressive direction of housing construction in those years was a response to the trends of post war modernism towards uniformity and equalisation, the extraordinary buildings constructed for university education contributed to the consolidation of the good reputation of the “Grazer Schule”.
