In the 1960s, new tendencies, defined by creative evoultion and a certain detachment from the tradition of modernism, energe in Croatian art and architecture. At the same time, the process of planning and building tourist infrastructure on the Adriatic coast, in particular large hotel buildings, starts.

The first projects are built at the time of limited economic develpoment of society. Importance is given to the funcionality and rationality while the design, in most cases, takes the form of a box, often without any relation to the surroundings. It is only later that there is an attempt to establish a stronger interaction with nature and the environment, through a structural approach and design of hotel buildings.
