When the Austro-Hungarian authorities in Sarajevo decided to erect a new building of the City Hall / Rathaus, several important buildings – used for the purpose of administrative, military, religious, and educational institutions – had already been built (the Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Sarajevo, the Orthodox Church in Tuzla, the building of the Provincial Government, the School for Sharia Judges. The Evropa Hotel, the Pension Fund building, the steel frame bridges over the Neretva, Miljacka and Sava Rivers 1882–1886). Within the scope of ten years after the occupation, in the first construction wave, different in relation to the architecture of previous centuries in Bosnia and Herzegovina, actually, the Eyalet of Bosnia, a new building order, new stylistic forms, and new neighborhoods were firmly established. This was most visible in Sarajevo.
