Hotel Cubo is a new start for the Luckman House which has been standing next to the main road of Ljubljana city centre since 1932. The original image of the house was somewhat lost in the 1960s, when, due to the expansion of Slovenska Street, pedestrian arcades were built on the ground floor. We used the conversion of the residential house into a small modern hotel to reveal again the house in all of its charm. Our biggest challenge was to create something new and fresh within the already existing space – something which would meet the needs of a modern nomad. The exterior of the house is under cultural heritage protection so we have preserved it.

This is how architects Katjuša Kranjc and Rok Kuhar define their programme of the reconstruction of the Hotel Cubo.
