Exhibition Opening: Đuro Janeković in Milan

25/07/2016

On Moday, 1st of August at 7 p.m. in a former church of Saint Carpophorus in Milan an exhibition of photography by Đurko Janeković titled Đuro Janeković: Croatian Photographer – European Artist will open. The exhibition is hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera and organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Milan, Italy.

The work of Đuro Janeković had up until recently been completely unrecognized in the context of Croatian and European history of photography, despite the fact that Janeković was, in the ‘20s and ‘30s, an important protagonist of the art scene in Zagreb and a witness and promotor of European modernism. Janeković was a documentarist of Zagreb’s daily life, on all levels, from the suburbs to the most representative streets of the city, from high society to those living on the margins.

The exhibition will be on view till 13th of August, 2016.
