Exhibition: Glenn Murcutt - One House
18/02/2015
The exhibition One House, regarding a project by Glenn Murcutt will be opened on Saturday, 21 February 2015., at 7 pm , at Oris House of Architecture.
Glenn Murcutt is one of the few architects that are still drawing all of their projects – from sketch to detail, by hand. During the next two weeks, in Oris House of Architecture, visitors will be able to see those original sketches of his project for Farmhouse Gloucester that will be built soon.
Vast expanses of Australia are places where an authentic, vital, and even self-confident architectural culture develops, which is deeply rooted in local given; nevertheless, this culture is not autarchic, but fruitfully contributes international architectural debate. Global media interest for the Australian scene is especially focused on Glenn Murcutt, perhaps least glamorous winner of Pritzker Award, however, his architecture has not emerged in a cultural vacuum, but is continuation of the work by Australian modernist architects of the mid-twentieth century, like Bill and Ruth Lucas and Neville Guzman.
