The Space Outside of a Plan

For four years Jasenko Rasol has been recording the specific process of appropriating, adopting and leasing off-space –the wild gardens created in public areas, in parks and spaces of Zagreb that are still expecting their future purpose. Some gardens Rasol has photographed are non-existent today and have been replaced by new construction; some have been changed, while many are still being  used. Their fate depends on the informal dynamics of everyday life and on economic interests, on the communal zoning documents while their formal status remains unclear. To whom do such spaces belong?
